Q.1) How old are you & where are you from?
I am 26 years old, and I am from Long Island, New York.
Q.2) How long have you been on the scene of hip-hop?
I started becoming obsessed with Hip Hop when I was 14 years old.
Q.3)Which hip hop artists did you idolize when you were growing up?
Eminem and The Game were my biggest influences when I started listening to Hip Hop.
Q.4) When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
It was about a year after I graduated college. Music was always my passion, and I felt like it has always followed me. I was writing rhymes one day and just decided to give it a shot. I have not looked back since.
Q.5) What keeps you motivated to continue creating hip hop music?
Just having the ability to grow. I realized that the more music I make the more things that I learn. It fuels me to keep going.
Q.6)Who has been the most detrimental to the scene of hip hop in your opinion?/Why do people say real hip hop is dead?
I wouldn’t say any artist in particular is detrimental to the scene of Hip Hop. I’d say it’s the power-house record labels backing the artists that are responsible. They have all the money and that’s why you only hear certain things on the radio. That could be why people say real Hip Hop is dead because they don’t play that type of music in the mainstream anymore. But real Hip Hop is alive and well. Just on the independent and underground scene.
Q.7) Why do you choose to stay an underground artist rather than selling out?
Honestly I like having control of my own career. You hear too many stories nowadays about artists getting screwed over by record deals. I see so many independent musicians making a career for themselves. So that right there just motivates me to keep going without the hopes of a record deal. I’m not saying I wouldn’t take a record deal either. I’d just make sure I got lawyers involved and have that contract carefully reviewed before I make any decisions.
Q.8) If you could compare yourself to any other artist who would it be?
I can’t compare myself to anyone because I am influenced by whatever I am listening to. There is so much music out there now you can discover something new to listen to every day. But if I had to pick someone to compare myself to it would be Robby Drew. LOL
Q.9) Do you have any projects in the near future you can tell us about?
Yes. The next project that I am working on is called “Growth.” It is all about the process of finding my signature sound as an artist. The first two projects I made I basically just recorded the first fifteen tracks and put them on the projects. This time around I am carefully preparing this next release. The more songs I record the more I improve. I have already recorded over 40 songs.
Q.10) If you could send all your fans an inspiring & motivational message that wasn’t in the form of a song like most I’ve heard what would it be?
Make sure you are happy with what you do. It doesn’t even have to be music. If you are passionate about something and it makes you happy then go after it!
