Q.1) How old are you & where are you from?
I am 30 and I'm from Charleston S.C.
Q.2) How long have you been on the scene of hip-hop?
I have been in the music scene since the year 2,000 however I have been recording since 1998.
Q.3)Which hip hop artists did you idolize when you were growing up?
I wouldn't say idolize, i was a big Tupac fan, Dayton Family, 8Ball&MJG, UGK, Wu Tang, Leaders Of The New School Eric B & Rakim, Early Snoop and Dre, NWA, MC Eight, Spice One, are some musical influences growing up. Music pretty much was my father for the most of my life.
Q.4) When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
I realized I wanted to do music in high school when I did my first performance in the talent show with my friend who's rap name was "Mr Malice" . We performed on the Lox "Money Power Respect" beat. As soon as I touched the mic the crowed erupted with cheers of excitement. Ultimately we received a standing ovation and that is when I knew this was what I wanted to do.
Q.5) What keeps you motivated to continue creating hip hop music?
My motivation is more universal and personal than more so personal NOW. Early on and just recently I had a very distinct passion for music. Being that my wife was sick at the time, my passion was more driven in success to be able to pay for recovery and restoration of health. When she passed, I had to find myself so to speak, I lost my drive when I lost my wife she was my all. However after a year I got a great second wind or rejuvenation in my creative muse and now my drive and motivation is just to make the best music that means something to someone somewhere millions of times over. Whether it saves their life m, gets through the day, or just makes them happy or want to party I just want to make good music.
Q.6) Why do you think people say real hip hop is dead?
I think with the state of main stream media we see so much desensitization of life but more so the reflection of "ourselves", that when we hear what is called hip hop, considering where hip hop evolved from and what it means, I think the "true" hip hop heads feel disrespected or may feel as though the "new artist" are only in it for the money and care nothing about the craft and what the responsibility it holds. So that's why I think most people say Hip Hop is dead.
Q.7) If u could collaborate with any major artist who would it be?
Does it have to be one? Lol. There are a few. Nas, Busta, Eminem, Damian Marley, Kendrick, J Cole, Future, OutKast, The Wu, CNN, MC Lyte, Eryka Badu just to name a few.
Q.8) If you could compare yourself to any other artist who would it be?
I know where this is going lmao I get Tip a lot I even get that comparison at labels so I would say Tip.
Q.9) Do you have any projects in the near future you can tell us about?
Yea I have a release coming soon titled "Blood On The Leaves" ft Queen Christine I actually have 3 alternate covers for that I also have the WETT LYFE Mixtape put together by Palmetto Fresh Charlestown Brown, And myself. Hosted by dj Akfool. The other is JUICE Gang the Drip Tape.
Q.10) If you could send all your fans an inspiring & motivational message that wasn't in the form of a song like most I've heard what would it be?
Know who you are. Once you do that be true to yourself in every way. True success will come from that.
